Fundraising

At d.r.i.f.t. our mission is: to bring people together through theatre, and to make the arts accessible in the Dharamshala region. For many of the children and adults we work with, this is their first experience of the magic of live theatre and the beautiful solidarities that come through engaging with the arts.

This is an entirely volunteer-run program and we all work through the year for free.

We do this because we believe in the importance of theatre as an art. Our calendar of activities includes workshops, residencies, outreach programmes, performances and public readings, as well a unique annual theatre festival every March with local and international performances. These varied opportunities for the local community have already started bearing fruit, with original work being created by upcoming local artists, and artistic ties being forged between people from varied communities and backgrounds.

Of course, all of this requires commitment from volunteers and collaborators, but also monetary resources that will allow us to invite artists from around the world, organise the festival and to run our programmes.

Your donations will pay for:

Festival space rental
Artists’ travel and honorarium
Printing costs of posters/fliers/promotional material
Production costs
Accommodation and food for artists and volunteers for five days
Training workshops
School outreach – both workshops and shows.

You can either donate one-time or engage with d.r.i.f.t on a monthly donation model.

To make this a truly sustainable community run and supported festival we would require just 200 of you to donate Rs.500 per month to cover our running expenses for the year.
