Dharamshala Residential & International Festival for Theatre presents
d.r.i.f.t. Reads: Session XIII
“First we eat, then we do everything else”, thus said the wise woman M.F.K. Fisher, founder of the Napa Valley Wine Library.
In the simplest of words, what else to do if not eat with pleasure and wine and a sweet treat. For centuries food has fulfilled so many primal and outlandish desires within the human soul – from a basic primitive diet of meat to the succulent luxury of caviar; from the almost sinful delight of chocolates to the essential health diet of green veggies; from massive Greek feasts to the modern Vegan movement.
This week we are very excited to present a seven-course special, a feast of unique hand-picked ingredients to satisfy any appetite!
Come hear us read these delicious treats dispersed around the food culture of literature and writing.
We will be reading excerpts from:
The Omnivore’s Dilemma – Michael Pollan
Partition changed India’s Food Culture Forever – Article by Anoothi Vishal
The Republic of Wine – Mo Yan
The Devil’s Larder – Jim Crace
Taste – Roald Dahl
Dal Delight – Subhadra Sen Gupta
Enjoy the special menu on offer at our lovely venue – the new upcoming cafe Spaced Out, with a slice of pizza delight and a glass of fresh juice to beat this summer’s heat!
We hope to see you there !!!
